Vocational Training

vishwa jyoti bannr

India's youth faces serious problems of unemployment and underemployment. The causes are legion and include dropping out of high school because of poor education, needing to support one's family at an early age, a lack of information on the job market, and, most importantly, not possessing the basic skills required by employers today. Many youth engage in daily wage work unaware of the opportunities available to them.

Looking at the current scenario where more than 80% of youth in the country have not completed school, it can be inferred that these youth, unless given vocational skills, will neither have enough competency to work as skilled labour to meet the growing needs of various industries, nor will they work for long as casual labour before falling prey to an addiction leading to battered minds & bodies.

We at “Vishwa Jyoti” believe in giving a ‘second chance’ to the out of school deprived youth and help them earn a decent living. By providing vocational training and life skills, we intend to turn the less privileged youth into an asset for the society and the nation. Our model ensures that the local community needs are met, thus benefiting the youth as well as the entire community or village. Our motto is to lead an inspired movement with a desire to bring about a change for the betterment of the society and the nation.

The program aims at creating an infrastructure, which ensures a smooth graduation from school to the outside world, for the young adult and the family. It also aims to ensure training and placements of the young adults in various vocations and organizations. This can either be done independently in the residential centre or by associating with various sheltered workshops and training institutions. The vocational training program aims at the following

  • To develop relevant vocational skills and competence among the intellectually and multiply disabled youth to improve their quality of life.
  • To serve intellectually and multiply disabled youth, emphasizing school to career and other career readiness programs in the partnership with the parents, disabled friendly industries and corporate houses.
  • Build awareness about career and employment options for intellectually and multiple disabled individual who face significant barriers to employment; and provide education, training and workplace experiences so they may actively pursue these options.
  • Provide education in the fundamentals of business and economics, the importance of savings, the basics of personal financial management and related consumer issues.

Students are assessed for ability and interest in learning skills for life vocations at Skill Development Centre. The areas of training are varied and dynamic and are sometimes introduced to suit the needs of particular students.
