Parent Counseling
Families can be a source of support, encouragement and love but sometimes relationships within families are put under strain and family members feel isolated or overlooked.
Family counseling can help when siblings aren’t getting on, or when parents and children are going through a divorce or separation. Forming a new family is a challenge and it is at this point that many parents contact Relate for some support to help everyone settle. Whatever difficulties you're having as a family, we can help. If you’re having problems as a family, whatever’s causing them, Family Counseling can help the whole family to communicate better, and to understand and resolve differences.
When families go through change, it can be difficult to learn to adapt. Counseling can help family members to support one another through these difficult times, to reduce conflict and arguments and grow stronger as a result.

Child Counseling
The mental health of children, however, is sometimes overlooked. Most people assume that childhood is a happy time, and they may dismiss the fact that children often deal with stress and psychological disorders as well.
There may be a number of causes for mental and emotional problems in children. These may include such things as meeting new people, divorce, death of a loved one, abuse, poverty, trouble in school, and trouble with peers. There is also evidence that some mental disorders are hereditary and caused by genetic factors. We at Vishwa Jyoti typically work with children to help them become mentally and emotionally stable and happy. We conduct different types of therapy, where childrens are encouraged to play games or play with toys that they enjoy. We then monitor their activities, which can reveal a great deal about their emotions and feelings.
We also conduct Individual counseling where children are often encouraged to talk about themselves and explore their feelings. We also help them to cope with and work through past problems and undertake current challenges that makes them feel scared, angry, or generally uneasy, by organising mental health workshops for children as well as small therapy groups.
Adult Child Counselling
Often when a child enters the phase of a teenager, he has a lot of unwanted things waiting for him to distract him from his main objective. Teenager phase is such a lucrative phase where parents are sidelined often as they are discarded by their children when it comes to sharing things. This is an important phase in a student’s life as it can make or break his career. Children often get involved in drugs, smoking, alcohol and other small crimes which later takes a bigger form as he gradually increases his exposure towards such things. We often organise awarness programmes for parents and children to make them aware and teach them how to stick to your primary path by not being deviated. We have several examples where many students have ruined their career due to drugs and alcohol, our programmes primarily focuses on teaching a student the merits of a healthier life. A perfect body with a perfect diet can only drive a curious mind, which if properly guided will be an asset not only to the parents but also to the society as a whole.
Couple Counseling
We at Vishwajyoti helps couples of all types to recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships, through marriage counseling. We look at couples counselling in more detail, including how it can help along with some of the common relationship problems explored, in form of therapy that looks to improve communication and resolve issues within an intimate relationship. Our role as counsellor is to facilitate change and resolution by helping both partners communicate more effectively by reaching their own conclusions under the guidance of a professional.
When we have been in a relationship or marriage for a long time it is easy to fall into a trap of not listening to the other person or not communicating our needs clearly. Sometimes talking to someone with no connection to yourself or your partner is all it takes for you to gain perspective. What couples counselling offers here is the chance to speak to someone with no preconceived notions of who you are as a couple, with the added bonus of having skills and training behind them to guide you through your concerns.
The overall aim of couples counselling is to help you do the following:
- Understand how external factors such as family values, religion, lifestyle and culture affect your relationship.
- Reflect on the past and how it operates in the present.
- Communicate in a more constructive way.
- Learn why arguments escalate.
- Negotiate and resolve conflicts where possible.
As the counselling sessions progresses, partners find a way of overcoming their problems, or they may decide it is time to part ways. Either way, hopefully counselling will offer the space to grow and decide what the future holds for both the couples.
Community Counseling
Community problems start out small, affecting only a handful of community members, but they can quickly grow out of control. Examples of some community problems can include poverty, and cultural or racial prejudices. Problems such as these can often lead to additional problems, like widespread psychological issues, substance abuse, and increased school dropout rates. Community counseling is a type of counseling that is used to help communities that are suffering from psychological or social discord, for one reason or another. We have professionals with excellent communication and leadership skills in this field, they often try to treat individuals in the community for whatever psychological problem that ails them. They also attempt to prevent future problem, helping the society as a whole by making it a better place to live. In order to do achieve our objective, we often work with individuals as well as a community as a whole in a decisive and disciplined manner.
